We have been to Ft. Myers many times and each time we have to visit the Edison/Ford homes. Each time we learn something new about the families. The guides are very engaging and interesting to listen to. I love the view that each family had of Lake Caloosahatche. If you go be sure to ride the electric boat - Lots of fun!
if you love history you'll love this place

A great place to visit . you get to see Edison's home which is preserved to how he lived. you will also find his best friends home and many of his cars (mr. Ford.) on the land they have alot of trees. especialy the tree when you first arrive will amaze you it is huge with many many roots that come from the limbs. They take you on a guided tour and the guides are very informative. at the end of the tour you will see his many inventions and his lab. a must see for history lovers.

Now can you imagine having a friend so close you would have them move next door to you? Well, that is what Edison and Ford did. They have some really neat things on this estate, they have Edison's labratory, and you can actually walk through it and see the things he was working on when he died. In Ford's garage, you can see some of his cars. They have extensive gardens with some of the most rare plants from around the world. You can walk through their houses and see how they lived, see what they saw when they walked out their backdoor and into the wonderous gardens along the water, it is no wonder that edison was so inspired
PROS: educational and beautiful
CONS: pricey
